This is it ...if you're not ready for Christmas, you have very little time to do it. I think we're ready! Lisa and I walked down to the center of the city this afternoon ...a very cold day but nice to be out in it all. We went to Bega (a former communist department store turned "mall") and to a few small shops. They put dozens of little wooden booths out at Christmas, throughout the city, selling sounvenirs and gifts. They are covered in lights and are very festive. We looked through a few of them, also. We surprised our friend Dori as she was locking up her optimist's shop so we went and "took a coffee" with her at Cafetorie Trandefir (The Rose coffee shop).
In the morning, I'll deliver fresh cookies to the high school teacher lounges as "thank you" for allowing us to work in their schools. From there on, it is downhill into the holiday. On Christmas Eve, we plan to go to a service that night at Vox (our church here) and then Christmas Day afternoon, we plan to go to the "casa Damacus" (house of some friends) to celebrate with their family. A true Romanian holiday!
