ROCK IT ALL THE WAY DOWN

Mikie has been cheering for our county recreation department.... it has turned out to be a fun experience for all of us..... we've all learned the cheers and we all go to the games. Here are a few pictures of some of our games!

Our little Mikie was baptized today by Max Lucado in the Guadelupe River near Boerne, Texas.... our friends Bobby and Ellen Hagan joined us!

"OUR BIG BACKYARD"

These pictures are at "our big backyard," or the park across the street from our apartment building. Our lives in Bucharest have been lived here.... countless afternoons and nights (in warm weather) spent on these benches and toys. It is our backyard, where we go to get outside. It is as familiar to us as your yard is to you. We know every nook and cranny, every toy, every piece of graffiti, every face that sits here (all of the grandmothers!). We know all the kids and if they are mean or nice. My girls have learned an awful lot about life here and, at least for the older two, it is burned into their memories as "this is what childhood looks like."

4TH GRADE FIELD TRIP: PELES CASTLE

Yesterday, Lisa and I took my 4th graders (of which Mikie is a part) to Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania. Unlike a typical US field trip, we rode the subway to the train station (gara de nord) and then took a train for 2 hours. It is a beautiful former "summer home" of Romania's former Royal Family. Currently, it is under ownership dispute (as are many other properties here due to communism and the way they took over land) and no one knows for sure how it'll end.

Last night, we walked down to parcul Tineretului and Sofia and Mikie rode some carnival rides.... all was well for a while, then the inevitable fear-stricken melt-down occured.... we'll spare you those photos.
