Ah ...I'm back! We've been traveling A LOT lately ...7 days in Hungary, 3 in Romania and then 4 in Slovakia ...a lot of borders, passports, currencies and sleeping in someone else's bed! Finally, we're back home! Tonight we had an American couple and a Romanian couple here to meet together. It was a sweet time to share in the midst of all of the cultural differences.
A funny little side note .......there is a new store in town caleed REAL (it's a German hypermart ...the European word for "supercenter") and it is MASSIVE! Anyway, the Long's dutifully drove out a few nights ago, along with most of the other Timisoareans, and visited. Last night, Mikie and I returned. While we were in the toy area looking at Barbies (AN AMERICAN ICON) in the GERMAN store we heard "Whenever I Call You Friend" (by AMERICAN Kenny Loggins) and the family next to us was speaking HUNGARIAN. I just found this "weird" for a boy from South Carolina ...but I imagine my girls will think it to be quite normal.
Anyway, I can't tell you just how far back to high school that song took me! I'm in a store in Timisoara and then I am instantly at Westside High School at my locker on the 2nd floor heading to Merck's AP English class. God, a MAJOR flashback!
