THE WRITTEN WORD

7 years ago this month, I began compiling a list of each book I read... hoping to keep the list for life. I was encouraged to do this by my then director at work because she wanted to promote "lifelong learning" (thanks Stephanie!). As of today, I just finished my 241st book (averaging almost 3 books per month). These are some of the books I'm reading ...just finished "The Shaping of a Christian Family" by Elisabeth Elliot (widow of Jim Elliot) today. Recently I read "An Illustrated History of Romania" and "Created for Commitment: the story of the founder of Bible Study Fellowship." I'm beginning "The Lost Tools of Learning" and am really putting a dent in "Anna Karenina" (only about 800 pages!) because I want to try to keep a classic going.

Typically I read 2 or 3 books at a time, assuming they are very different genres. I have NEW BOOKS waiting on me in the States.... like a kid in a candy shop! I know it's silly, but one of my big worries when we moved to Romania was, "how will I find anything to read???" Well, God has generously provided, even in books! Posted by Picasa
