BOULEVARD UNIRII

An excellent photo of "Boulevard Unirii," taken from the Casa's balcony. "Unirii," which means "the union," was built by the regime and it is slightly wider than Champs Elysees in Paris (supposedly Unirii is now it is the widest boulevard on earth). EVERYTHING you seen was built in the early 80's to project the image of the GRAND SOLCIALIST STATE OF ROMANIA. Unfortunately, 1000's of homes, dozens of churches and countless cemetaries were bulldozed to accomplish it. About halfway down, hang a right and we live back in that neighborhood in a much more modest concrete abode. Posted by Picasa
