THE DELTA
You can see Tulcea in the lower right corner of Romania.....
We traveled last weekend on a short vacation with our friends, Matthew & Gaby (and their 5 kids) from Budapest. We all loaded into a large van and drove to Tulcea for 2 nights. Tulcea is on Romania's Danube Delta near the Ukraine border. The Danube originates in the Black Forest of Germany, winds through Europe and empties into the Black Sea here. The Danube is also partially Romania's border with Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia), Bulgaria and a sliver of Ukraine. I read that Tulcea has been an inhabited city since 200 BC!!! After Tulcea, we headed to Mamaia, a coastal resort city on Romania's Black Sea shore. The kids splashed around all afternoon and Sofia did that "first time at the ocean" thing.
