The People's Palace, another name for this monsterous building, was built so that the "people" it honored would never be allowed inside! A huge chunk of Bucharest was plowed under to build it and the "planned community' around it. These fountains line a street that is just a tad wider than Champs Allyses in Paris ...Ceaucescu wanted to be sure he had Europe's widest urban boulevard.
