Spring Break began yesterday when school finished. We're looking at 2 weeks of no school! Being in a very busy everyday school environment, it's a welcomed event.
This morning, we got up and began the "journey to Ikea." Since the van is still in the shop, we had to "go public" to do it. Here's how it works: 10 minute walk to the Metro, take a train one stop, walk through an underground tunnel to another station. Take the 2nd train 2 stops. Come back up and there is a bus stop. Take the bus to the huge shopping complex where Ikea is located. Sound easy? It isn't hard, but takes about an hour one way. We spent the day there... ate lunch, kids played, we looked and dreamed and then even had to grab a hotdog on the way out for the reverse journey home.
We plan to take the train to visit some friends across country next week for a few days, spending a few days in the village. Small village compared to Ikea.... two completely different worlds! Looking forward to it! Well, we're finished for the day... tired!!

An hour by public doesn't sound so bad...Piata Muncii to Ikea was 50 minutes by car yesterday, but once you adjust that time for the stress of driving in Bucharest in the middle of the day, it's more like 3 hours! By, hey, it's Ikea...and they carry the leather cleaner that I've been looking for for 2 years...now I can clean my couch! Hope you have a fantastic Spring Break!
Don't get us wrong... we're BIG fans of public! If you were driving from Muncii, you were probably on Stephan cel Mare and that one is a nightmare... it's a "socialist state ring road' gone terribly wrong.
