Yesterday, Romanian president Basescu was voted back into office. There's been much scandal ( ...lots of that here) and it was dirty and mean (...think Monica or Watergate) and they suspended him. The people voted to decide if he could remain in office and he got 78.1% of the vote ....he received 1,000,000 more votes to remain president than he did to become president! Talk about a mandate.
He's wildly popular, friendly, charismatic and very "normal" compared to most politicians. He's only their 4th president ever.... remember, a long time ago they had a king, then a dictator and now they're trying democracy. This is a new baby for them and they're working out the kinks with the world's media cameras rolling 24/7. If you read the post below about him, you'll see how "normal" he appears.
