A FRIDAY IN TIMISOARA

Just came in from Romanian language class. I go to class twice a week for 2 hours each time. We've come a long way, Laura (my teacher) and I. Today, we began "future tense" verbs! Wow, I can see clearly now! So many words crammed in my head, swimming around. Today we also took a Romanian business magazine and I read articles from it. That is fun ...relevant at least.

Lisa is plannng to bake Christmas cookies tonight with Evelina, a friend's sister. She plans to do these every Friday night with a different teenage girl until Christmas. We hope to give the cookies to our neighbors for Christmas. Her brother Dani is coming, so we'll do something ....sorta cold and rainy outside, so maybe something inside, like a good movie or a board game. I don't always know if what we do is "hokie" or not. So many cultural implications. Overall, I guess we all appreciate people caring about us enough to spend time together.

School is back in session after the 3 week teachers' strike. Now, as I hear, they are going to school on Saturdays this month to make up for it. We want to get back in, but not sure if it will happen before Christmas break, which is 3 weeks away.
